How do you access your inner sanctuary?
Image description: An older, straight size person is standing in a luscious, verdant garden bursting with bright orange flowers. They wear glasses, a white shirt and black vest. Their white hair is pulled back, and their mottled brown hands hold their face in amazement. Three waxing gibbous moons glow brightly over their head, the moons’ faces glowing yellow. The fourth moon glows brightly from the person’s heart center.
In the 4 of Discs, we glimpse the inner sanctuary of the character, which they carry in their heart wherever they go. In this world, it is often difficult to feel a sense of safety and belonging, but we can access our sanctuaries inside of us at any time. As the time of the full moon approaches, we must rest and re-establish ourselves firmly. This can mean establishing boundaries, particularly around our bodies.
As we anchor into the safety we can provide ourselves, we can begin releasing old structures that we may have previously clung to. Being in our center allows us to explore how we may be holding on to insidious beliefs that gave us a false sense of security, such as believing ourselves to be “better” or more deserving of love when we tightly control what we eat or how we spend our money. These deep-seated beliefs are the seeds we tend that lead us to judge ourselves and others as more or less worthy of peace, safety, and abundance.
When you pull the 4 of Discs, take a moment to access your inner sanctuary. What is true and real here? Once you’ve tapped into this space, you can evaluate your current situation with clearer eyes. In the fours, we are finishing our foundations as we prepare for the change of the fives. Does your foundation reflect your values? Will it support you on the path ahead? If not, determine what you need to feel like your foundation will be able to support you in the ways that you need.
When this card shows up reversed, consider if you are being called upon to share your resources. If so, how do you feel about this calling? Is there fear or resistance? Where does this stem from?
Some questions to consider when you pull this card:
- What brings you an unshakeable sense of safety, security and belonging? Does this align with what the world tells you will make you feel this way?
- Are there structures, patterns, or ideas that you are clinging to which no longer serve you?
- What does the word “release” bring up for you?
