4 of Cups

Where do you look for support when you are emotionally overwhelmed?

Image description: Two straight-size people sit on a bench supported by a fluffy white cloud. The sky is a dark, rich blue, and a lone tree stands to their left. The person on the left is white with medium-length blonde hair. They sit with their arms crossed over their stomach, their right foot up on the bench and their left leg stretching out below them. The person on the right is a gentle blue-gray and has medium-length hair of the same color with bangs. The person on the right sits with their arms around the other person’s left shoulder and their legs crossed over the other character’s outstretched left leg. The person on the left wears a long, black shirt with a white collar, red pants, black shoes, and a shin-high green sock. They look off into the distance.

How do you care for yourself when your emotional cups are full? Do you find yourself often comparing how you show up in relationships with how others do? This card corresponds with the Moon in Cancer, the sign that the Moon rules. As a Cancer rising, there are times when emotions can overwhelm me to the point that it feels physically painful, and yet I compare how I am showing up with others and find myself wanting. When we are hard on ourselves in this way, we can close off to the love and support of our guides. What happens if you gently open yourself up to feelings of disappointment, apathy, or even not-enoughness? Is it possible to set aside bypassing just for a moment, be where you are, and feel the love of your guides soothing your most tender, aching feelings?
