What does being in your magic feel like?
Image description: A white, straight-size person with long, wavy red hair stares at the viewer, set against a neon yellow background. Their arms are linked behind their head, showing off their bare torso underneath a cropped black vest. They wear an ourobouros necklace close to their neck, while a longer golden chain with an amethyst hangs down to their sternum. The amethyst is pointed at both ends, similar to a wand. Their features are sharp and angular, their lips slightly parted as if they are about to speak. Their light green eyes are intense and focused.
The Magician is an innately enigmatic being. They represent union with the magical, mystical, mercurial aspects of ourselves- the deep parts of us that are in some ways unknowable. The Magician represents the idea that we are always a mystery unto ourselves. They unite the four elements and, in doing so, tap into a sum that is greater than its parts. This card is like the summary before a paragraph; it gives us a glimpse into our tarot journey and assures us that we have all that we need to begin this rite of passage.
The ouroborous represents the idea that nothing is created or destroyed, only transformed. In cooking, for example, we have a vision (recipe) and use our ingredients to transform these separate substances into a meal that transcends its original components. The Magician’s amethyst helps them to channel their internal tools and power to create change both internally and externally. We can often experience blockages to those tools and our power from a variety of sources, including internalized oppression, executive dysfunction, and exhaustion. External support can help us to open back up and clear the lines of communication with spirit. Allowing our creativity and power to move through us enables us to experience more flow.
With the Magician in our corner, we have a clear channel and the tools that we need to take the next step along whatever path we’re on. It is time to gather our resources and take decisive action, even if we aren’t sure of the roadmap. The possibilities are endless on this choose-your-own-adventure story. Be aware of the narratives you have around this story; clarity of mind is particularly helpful in this card’s energy. As you move forward, consider reflecting on the following questions:
- Do you consider yourself a magical being? What does that mean to you?
- What does being in your magic feel like?
- Where are you directing your attention and intention?
